Dr Eugeniusz Andrulewicz - is analytical chemist involved in protection of the marine environment. At present he is employed at the Sea Fisheries Institute in Gdynia as a Senior Scientist at the Department of Fisheries Oceanography and Marine Ecology. He has been involved in work of various international organizations, such as ICES, HELCOM, NATO-CCMS, IMO-MEPC. He has coordinated various national and international projects in a cooperation with HELCOM and the Baltic countries. Published over 70 peer-revived papers and reports. At present, he is involved in the assessment of the effects of technical pressure on marine environment.

Andris Andrusaitis – associate professor and head of Hydrobiology department at University of Latvia, Riga. Marine biologist by education, former director of Latvian Institute of Aquatic Ecology (1994-2004), Assistant Coordinator of the HELCOM/ICES/GEF Baltic Sea Regional Project (2004-2007), member of VASAB working group on ICZM and Maritime Spatial Planning. Coordinator of Latvian National Research program “Climate Change Impact on the Aquatic Environment of Latvia” (www.kalme.daba.lv). From 2008 - Program Manager of the Joint Baltic Sea Research Program BONUS, BONUS EEIG, Helsinki (www.bonusportal.org). Member of the BALTEX Science Steering Group.

Joanna Jaszczołt is a PhD student in the Institute of Oceanography, at the University of Gdansk. Her first degree in Marine Biology was completed in the Department of Experimental Ecology of Marine Organisms in the Institute of Oceanography. She Completed her Master Thesis on reproduction and growth of the spiny-cheek crayfish Orconectes limosus (Raf., 1817) in brackisch waters. She is in the fourth year of her PhD studying alien decapod crustaceans. Her research interests focus on crustacean biology and ecology and the future application of aquatic crustaceans into aquaculture.

Odd Lindahl - a marine ecologist with long training in studying eutrophication effects and re-eutrophication measures in Swedish coastal waters. He has become especially interested in using the bio-filter capacity and environmental ecosystem service of mussel farming as a management tool for society in order to improve coastal water quality. Besides marine ecology, his research includes the use of mussels in organic feed and as organic fertilizer and also some of the economics of nutrient trading.

Piotr Lorens, dr hab. inż. arch., head of the Department of Urban Design and Regional Planning, Gdansk University of Technology, Poland. Vice President of the Society of Polish Town Planners. Member of the Committee on Spatial Development, Polish Academy of Sciences. Graduate of Gdańsk University of Technology, also studied at Massachusetts Institute of technology and Harvard University (USA). His professional life is associated with research and practice within the field of urban design and development, with special focus on metropolitan areas, harbor spaces as well as urban regeneration.

Petra Schmidt runs the unit “Basic principles of regional/spatial development” in the Ministry for Transport, Building and Regional Development Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. In this function she is responsible for the elaboration und follow-up of the spatial development programme Mecklenburg-Vorpommern among others. Already the spatial development programme Mecklenburg-Vorpommern which was passed by the Cabinet in 2005 includes declarations and regulations for the coastal waters. Based on a decision of the federal state government of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern the part for the coastal waters presently is under upgrading. The involvement in the INTERREG IV B project BaltSeaPlan conduce the preparation of the follow-up.

Katarzyna Ścibior - graduate of Landscape Planning at the Technical University of Berlin , she specialises in issues of environmental planning and coastal and marine management. Since 2006 she works as a project consultant in sustainable projects (s.Pro) company in Berlin, where her tasks include development, application, coordination and evalauation of numerous INTERREG projects, such as eg. PlanCoast, BaltSeaPlan or TIDE. In cooperation with the Maritime Institute in Gdansk she contributed a.o. to the Compedium of Maritime Spatial Planning Systems in the BSR Countries.
